The Tokyo Rosenthal Program
The Tokyo Rosenthal Program is an internationally syndicated radio show, taped in front of a live audience at the Pittsboro Roadhouse in Pittsboro, NC. The show features Tokyo Rosenthal, an Americana artist, playing some of his songs and hosts a guest artist for a performance/interview. For Season 3 I took on the role of video producer and audio assistant. I shot and edited the video, as well as mixed the audio for the video version. The audio was all recorded through a Presonus StudioLive Console with mostly dynamic stage mics and DI’s. The video was shot on a Fujifilm DSLR camera with backup shots from an iPad.
I have embedded two of the shows for your viewing pleasure. One features “The Sap Boilers” and “Marshall Ballew.” The other features “Twin Courage” and Triangle-Area favorites “Mipso” The video quality is decidedly amateur(I’m not video guy), but the audio is where these pieces really shine. I did the audio mix for each of the videos. I did my best to capture the intimate vibe of the show and venue and I really think it comes through in sound mix. You can find the rest at the Tokyo Rosenthal YouTube Channel
Overall it was a fantastic experience and I got to meet many outstanding musicians. I will be returning for season 4 and posting some of those clips as they came.
